The World in our Hands
Person: Dr Rachel
Place: Arctic
Problem: We have spotted two polar bears on individual icebergs. But the icebergs are different sizes. Why is this?
We have received a very important video message from a lady called Dr Rachel. She explained to us that she lives and works in the Arctic as a scientist and researcher. Unfortunately, Dr Rachel and her very small team are struggling to complete all of their research as there are so many new discoveries to explore. Dr Rachel has asked Dosbarth Twyni if they would be willing to fly out to the Arctic to support the ongoing research.
Keep checking back to find out more about this new adventure!
What do we already know and what would we like to learn?
After our video message from Dr Rachel, the children put their thinking caps on and wrote down some ideas they have about the Arctic. These ideas included what they already know and what they would like to find out about the Arctic.
Arctic Polar Bear Researchers!
We have decided to accept Dr Rachel's invitation to join her and her research team out in the Arctic! We are very excited! We head off on our adventure very soon. But first, we need to create our very own research team name and logo.
Have a look at some of our first designs...
As a class, we sat together and shared everyone's research team name ideas. Together, we decided to choose 'Arctic Polar Bear Researchers'. Have a look at the final logo design...
We are off!
Well, we have packed our suitcases, collected our passports and made our way to the airport for our flight!
"Let's say..." Oh no! There is a slight problem! There is no plane available for us to fly on! As a team we need to build a plane that will get us to the Arctic safely. We must hurry! Dr Rachel is waiting for us.
All passengers are on board. Our trusty pilot and co-pilot have collected everyone's tickets and made sure that everyone has a seat. The plane is very comfy - it even has a library!
Sit back, relax, and enjoy your flight!
